This old car a friend is working on is actually over a hundred years old. It had a mica stacked capacitor/condenser in it which had failed. We put in a regular modern ignition system capacitor and that seemed to help.
The loud snapping in the video is from the spark which was striking, but it often happened between frames so the camera was not catching most of the sparks.
